The Swedish Customs' operational activities are divided into four departments: control, revenue, intelligence, and customs crime. The Revenue Department has a broad mandate within three operational areas: permits, revenue monitoring, and post-control. The operational work of the Revenue Department is conducted within four geographical units: south, west, east, and north. These units collaborate nationally and work with the entire department's mission. The department is responsible for ensuring that the correct customs duties and other fees are charged for goods entering and leaving the country, as well as monitoring compliance with import and export regulations. Within the department, there are various tasks, with an important goal of preventing, stopping, and detecting economic crime and criminal actors.

We are now looking for a qualified case officer who is driven and innovative to join a team focused on preventing and combating economic crime and the criminal economy.

About the position

As a qualified case officer based in the Revenue Department, you will work across all operational areas of the department with a strong focus on tasks that prevent, stop, and lead to the detection of economic crime and criminal economy. You will collaborate with colleagues throughout the Swedish Customs but will also have contacts with other authorities.

You will work on developing new improved working methods together with colleagues both in your group and in the various operational areas. The work may also involve driving or participating in the handling of various cases and reviews, such as checks of new or existing permits and customs audits of companies' import or export activities. In the work, you need to be able to analyze and compile data to make decisions. The work requires innovation, independence, and the ability to drive issues forward across a broad spectrum of tasks. The position requires excellent collaboration skills.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A university degree of at least 120 credits or 180 ECTS in a relevant field, such as economics, statistics, law, logistics, criminology, social sciences, or political science (foreign academic degrees must correspond to Swedish standards with a certificate issued by the Swedish Council for Higher Education)
  • Relevant and current work experience in qualified work within one of the Swedish Customs' operational departments
  • Experience in combating economic crime or criminal economy
  • Excellent ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing
  • Good ability to express yourself in English, both orally and in writing

It is advantageous if you have:

  • Experience leading/actively participating in change work
  • Experience in control or audit work in an authority or auditing firm
  • Experience working with financial analysis
  • Experience reading and interpreting legislation
  • Experience working with and analyzing data sets
  • Good knowledge of Excel, Power BI, and/or other analytical tools
